Why is the rainbow arc-shaped?

If you could see enough of a rainbow it is actually circular. The reason for the curve is that when sunlight shines through a rainstorm the light is refracted and we can see the visible part of the spectrum at a particular set of angles in relation to us. The refraction, btw, is why you would never actually see the complete circly, but only the arc.

Haha, one could say it's to represent the "Ark" surviving after the flood. But if you wanted a scientific answer, just go by what the other guy said.
