  • If you could see enough of a rainbow it is actually circular. The reason for the curve is that when sunlight shines through a rainstorm the light is refracted and we can see the visible part of the spectrum at a particular set of angles in relation to us. The refraction, btw, is why you would never actually see the complete circly, but only the arc.
  • Haha, one could say it's to represent the "Ark" surviving after the flood. But if you wanted a scientific answer, just go by what the other guy said.
