Supposedly it is to protect the citizens from a drug that could cause them harm. This is one of the laws that makes me wish I really could be president, because it does not make one bit of sense. I could easily believe the conspiracy theories that claim it is all because the politicians make big bucks from the illegal drug trade.

I read that teenagers who "do" pot are affected..their brains are changed in one way or another. Do you really want our country to be known for its potheads? We already have the highest crime rates, the most deaths by guns, the most violence..now you want to add to that list the most drugged population? Maybe we already are! Sad statistics..we used to be known for our excellence! :(

TWO words Cotton industries,yes,i have seen a factual doc'o man years ago explaining how theise industries were thretend by hemp,they even made car pannels out of hemp,true experimental of course,backed by the goverment thay made it illigal,burning all crops,scare mongering people,with it will turn you into apsyco ect,B.S,

Because of the closed minded government officials and the lack of support that it gets since they all seem to want to blame it as being a gateway drug whereas in fact many people who use it don't go any further which is another myth that they don't want the public to know about.

the prohibition of marijuana is surrounded by yellow journalism, racism, politics, and lack of knowledge about marijuana. today, it is scientifically proven marijuana is non addicting, non cancer causing, isn't a gateway drug, and yet people still believe it to be harmful, when in fact, it's a lot better than alcohol and cigarettes. in the 1930's people used lies like "marijuana will make white women date negroes, mexicans, and filipinos" also, the mormons in utah did not like the fact that the people they sent to mexico to spread the mormon religion were coming back and bringing marijuana. people were scared, we could have made a non harmful fuel out of hemp to power cars then the oil companies would lose money. the cotton industry was at war with hemp, because hemp was so much more stronger, durable and useful than cotton. pretty much, people didn't like the competition of marijuana, therefore HANDING the 103 billion$ a year industry to the "criminals".

because nobody is sure of what goes inside of it except for the drug dealers, and all they care about it money. now a days, drug dealers put things such as rat poison in the marijuana, and often people try it once and have severe brain damage for the rest of there life.
