A black focussed Africentric school is opening up in Toronto next year. Is this a good idea and would you send your child to this school?

I would say it may be good for those that wish to know more about Africa. I would not send my child there. White or Black or any other ethnicity should all be taught the same to be equal. Learning about one's culture can be done at a culture center or culture group. This is another way to be separate and then cry discrimination when the kids don't learn. Watch out for this place.

First of all I wish to say I do not discriminate or look those of other ethnicities over the shoulder. Never the less I am a grown up and understand the subject, but children are cruel and usually make the ethnic differences much greater than they should ever be. Racism is rampant all over, I sincerely believe that each ethnicity should have its own space to develop their culture and personalities. Thus when they grow up there are no hard feelings or lack of self esteem. Regarding your question, I don't know how racism is handled or dealt with in Canada, if there is tolerance and very low racism then it will work otherwise it will be a cruel manner to make black children feel bad.
