  • I'm gonna take a guess that there aren't a lot of bombs hanging out on a beach.
  • As a lifeguard it helps to be a jack-of-all-trades. You never know what you'll encounter during a shift at the beach. I'd say that, depending on where you work as a LG (public pool in a rough neighbourhood, a private beach, etc) having experience in dealing with tense situations in and out of the water is a must. What it comes down to is being able to remain calm and having the ability to adapt your skillset to deal with whatever problem you may face in the line of duty. Whether that be rescuing a swimmer in trouble, fending off sharks, disarming a bomb, foiling a bank robbery, or just putting on some sweet bodyboarding moves for the ladies. It should be "all in a day's work" for any lifeguard worth his or her salt.
