Reggie came into my gas station one night after closing, and made rude comments to me when I refused to spend 20 minutes re-priming the pumps so he could get $10 worth of gas. Edit: To the person who rated this "not helpful", perhaps you could tell me what famous person I met, since you seem to know more about it than me.

He was down in New Orleans at a compound for volunteer college students who went down there to help in the cleanup efforts. (The compound had over 1,000 of us staying there for the week.) He interviewed several of us, but I got to talk to him after his show was over, when the cameras were getting put up. - David Coleman, September 19, 2006, "The Dating Doctor". My wife and I met Gregory Hines in the Delta Crown Room at Salt Lake City airport in September of 1999. We were flying back home from Las Vegas, where we had just gotten married. My wife approached him and sat talking to him for a few minutes. Then they got up and came over to where I was sitting. Gregory congratulated me on getting married, and stated "marriage is a great gift." He autographed our marriage license, putting those same words on the license along with his name. I met Gallagher (the comedian) and Gallagher 2 (his brother) at a trade show I worked in Las Vegas. Gallagher was working the same booth as me under contract with IBM. He got fired after 3 days of the show cause he kept screwing with the audience. He was a bit cranky in person, but his brother was great. (Also, his brother had a GORGEOUS girlfriend that would hang with me while he was doing his act.) At that same show, I met Brent Spiner and Marina Sirtis of Star Trek fame. Marina was very quiet, acting almost shy at the party we were at. Brent was a very warm and outgoing person. Years ago when I worked as a firefighter, I met a number of celebrities who came to the town I worked in to perform at the South Shore Music Circus. Once I almost ran over Donny Osmund as he was crossing a street. I also transported Cher to the hospital by ambulance following a minor car accident. That was when she was in town to film the Witches of Eastwick. I also knew my Dad quite well, and he was somewhat famous. When I was very young, I used to meet famous people all the time through my Dad. I just can't remember any of them - a hazard of growing old :-)

Special note; Dee Snider of Twisted Sister, (and his lame ass band Blackwidow, are the most memorable, Dee is definately a legend in his own mind and a complete asshole. He rudely interrupted an interview with an upcoming Poison rip off outfit know as Tuff, that sonofabitch had one of his cronys evict me in mid interview and in the process they trashed my $800 camera. • When i was in high school i was in a nursing program and we traveled to Houston. We were staying in a hotel and we decided to order pizza from downstairs. The guy told me it woudl be ready in 20 min. 20 min. later i went down to pick it up and i wasn't allowed into the pizza hut. I asked what was up and the dumb security wouldn't tell me. I started creating a scene because, uh, i had ordered pizza 20 min. ago and now they were telling me i had to wait. Finally some guy that was inside came out and asked what was wrong. I told him the idiot of a security guard wsn't letting me in. He chuckled and let me inside where there were a bunch of other guys chowing down. I got my pizza, courtesy of the mysterious stranger. I said thanks and went on my way. When i walked out my roommates were standing outside with their jaws to the floor. They said, "you wer etalking to sammy sosa?!" I said, "I was? Ah crap! that's who that was!" I looked back and the guys were looking out chuckling, or laughing whatever. I felt like an ass for not recognizing him. Oh well.

  • The most famous person I have met is Tim Allen when he was shooting on location for Home Improvement. He doesn't act much. He really is like that; a normal guy who loves powerful machinery. Only celebrity we ever had on board that actually wanted to visit the engineering spaces. Also he smokes Marlboro reds. I had to give him a light.
  • Yes, and I insulted him unknowingly after he carried my bags at the airport. I didn't notice the "NFL Players Association" on his duffle bag until after I made an arse of myself. I saw he had a Bills polo shirt on, and said, "The Bills? Oh, man, you need a new team. Any team that can loose the Superbowl four years in a row should be banned from it..." Guess what? :( That was a huge foot-in-mouth moment.
  • I met Stephen King when I was almost 8, I shook his hand and acted all cantankerous because my mum had'nt let me start reading 'Carrie' the night before. Probably a good move on her part, but it still put me in a bad mood, and ruined that book signing for me.

  • Yes. And I found them to be people, just like you and I. I met Melvin Laird dining with a friend at a restaurant. He was working for the Dewitt-Wallace Companies (Readers Digest) as a consultant, and had their American Express card to pay his bill. (I saw it and then found out his middle initial 'R') He was very civil, and surprised that someone as young as I would know he graced the cover of Time, much less was our 10th Secretary of Defense. Also, I sat with Jack Nicholas in the locker room at the Player's Club one year during the final rounds of TPC at the old Sawgrass (beachside) Course. We were both sitting down to change out our shoes, and I commented how gracious he always seemed to the gallery. He smiled and thanked me, and I complimented him on his round and told him how my Dad was a huge fan. He wrote a quick note on a greeting card addressing my Dad by name, and signed it. Not many players today would take the time, much less bother to address anyone by name. And there are others, but the most interesting was Wayne Weaver, owner of the shoe empire and an NFL team. We were both in a Jacobson's Department store in the Menswear section, and exchanged pleasantries. He was kind and civil, but the most telling moment was when we both had to try on our selections. This store had fancy saloon type swinging doors for each changing area, and they were open at the bottom. Wayne was buying slacks, and I a sport coat, and as I walked past his booth, I slowed and bent down to glance under the doors. And guess what? He put his trousers on one leg at a time, just like you and I. I know: I saw that with my own eyes.

  • Yep, many. I assume that they usually like to be treated normally so I don't even acknowledge their 'special' status. The exception being Tim Allen who bumped into me on the (unlit) smoking sponson of a ship. I asked him how he liked the main-spaces as I gave him a light and recommended that he replace his lighter with a decent Zippo, a lighter with more power. (His disposable wouldn't light in the wind we had blowing.)
  • Yes, I have met several over the years, but the one that stands out in my memory was when I met Charlie Rich at a rest area on I-40 between Nashville and Memphis, TN. He pulled into the space beside me and took his little boy into use the rest room and when he came out I introduced myself, shook his hand and told him how much I liked his music. He thanked me and we chatted there for about 10 minutes. A very friendly and approachable guy. I did not ask for an autograph and he did not offer. I was just glad to have met him. That was in '73 or '74 I believe.
  • I met David Canary at a rodeo in Canada years ago, he played the short lived brother Candy on Bonanza. I got his autograph and forgot about it. • Bono. Spilled his drink on him. D'oh! Scroll down. . . answer 40 something here http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/76442 I was at a fund raising party in Los Angeles in the late 80s, say Joshua Tree timeframe. Bono was getting ready to do a set by himself (sans the rest of U2) on this little stage that was set up on the first floor. It was crowded and I was backing up to let a couple through the area where we were standing and I backed into the guy and there went his drink all over his bare chest (the leather vest and no shirt phase). I clasped my hand to my mouth, my eyes must have been huge, and I managed to stammer out a lame apology. He was feeling pretty good I would say (open bar!)and he grinned and said not to worry and went back to checking his equipment.

  • I saw David Beckham behind the scenes when he was filming an advert. I just said 'alright?' to him like he wasn't famous.

  • Quite a few in passing over the years...but in my mind, most notable was Celine Dion (not because I have any sort of fondness for her but because she is so easily pigeonholed and made fun of). I was in Quebec City in 1998 and there she was, signing autographs in front of the Parliament building. I joined up in the queue and fished around in my pockets for some scrap of paper so I could at least have a souvenir of the occasion. The only thing I found and was willing to sacrifice was one American dollar. I somehow got pushed to the front; she saw me, I waved the dollar and she turned her back and walked. We did this a couple more times, me rushing further down the line to catch up with her as she walked. Finally, I got to the front of the line again, and in frustration, I thrust a Canadian 5 dollar bill at her, which she took from me and scribbled upon. I viewed it as petty and stuck-up at the time. In retrospect, it's just kind of funny.
  • Very often while working in the large hotels,I have served seven prime ministers past and present. The most respected was without doubt Mrs.Thatcher the whole atmosphere of a room used to change when she entered it. It always seemed whoever was in the room, whoever they were in conversation with did no longer matter, they all just wanted a moment of Mrs.Thatcher's time,a very fine lady.

  • When I was a waitress, I waited on Merle Haggard and his crew. There were 10 of them, and I made a whole dollar off that table. I don't know if he was mad about something, but he was rude and cranky. Maybe he was upset because I didn't swoon and tell him I knew who he was. I also waited on Pake McEntire (Reba's brother). Well, he joined a table full of people and ate their leftovers. Reba stomped in, stood at the table pointing her finger at him, appearing to chew him out for something, and stomped back out.
  • I met Michel Platini who Captained France when they won the World Cup in the 80s. He was their manager when I met him.
