Way back in the day. The day being in the 70's.
-
My parents had a 13″ black-and-white in their bedroom, in the ’70s; I used to watch stuff on it while they watched the big TV—a 19″er!—downstairs. When I was about seven, I opened up a Christmas present from my grandparents and saw the word “Magnavox” under the wrapping. My only exposure to Magnavox, by that point, had been commercials for their new remote-controlled color TV, so I actually yelled that out: “A remote-controlled color TV!” My poor parents and grandparents must have felt so disappointed when they had to tell me that no, it didn’t have either of those things; it was just a 13″ black-and-white with no remote. Oh well; at least it was mine. ;-)

That is all we had when I was growing up. No such thing as cable. We used to bang the crap out of it when the "rabbit ears" didn't work.

Still do & have built them from "Scratch" using "Valves" (Vacuum Tubes) of which I still have a thousand or so in my shop!!! John
