You're reading I'm trying to lose weight and have started a diet of eating nothing but oat crackers. I get 1300 cals a day, 40g protein, 60g carbs, low sugar & fat, high in fibre & 6g of salt a day + i am taking multivitamins daily. Its only for a week, is this ok?
Comments
ok well...Is 1300 soo little an amount that this will happen, I would have thought like only eating soo little such as 200, 300 kcal a day would do this? What would you recomend as a good calorie amount for a diet, please keep in mind this is only for a week. not for ever.

Extreme calorie restriction (fewer calories than 75% of that required for basal metabolic rate), medication or unusual patterns of eating (i.e. restricting food consumption to a single fruit or meal) can be dangerous.
Dieting, especially extreme food-intake reduction and rapid weight loss, can have the following side effects:
* Prolonged hunger
* Depression
* Reduced sex drive
* Fatigue
* Irritability
* Fainting
* Sinus problems (especially post-nasal drip)
* Muscle atrophy
* Rashes
* Acidosis
* Bloodshot eyes
* Gallbladder disease
* Seizures
* Malnutrition, possibly leading to death
