The only thing I can say that Arisztid hasn't already said is to make sure what your feeling is indeed a toothache.

A sinus infection or swelling of the sinuses can make you appear you have a toothache. Note you do not have to have sinus blockage or a stuffy nose to have a sinus infection.

With a sinus infection you can feel tenderness, swelling in the gums in nerve endings.

First thing, I hope that you are seeing a dentist.

Some stopgap measures are to soak a cottonball in whiskey and put it on the tooth and gums around it. Clove oil works even better to me. Just dab it onto the tooth and gums with a cottonball or q-tip.

You can get ambusol at the local pharmacy... that is better than either whiskey or clove oil.

    Then get to the dentist!

If an aching tooth has been filled recently,
you will probably be about to go back to your dentist.
    But try this first:
Brush the aching tooth with toothpaste,
and repeat the process day and night if necessary.
This worked for me a few months ago,
even though the toothache was severe,
and lasted for about 12 hours.
Each time I brushed the tooth, it quietened down a bit.
    Eventually it stopped aching completely.

Garlic clove when placed on the aching tooth provides immediate relief from pain.

Another very effective though short term treatment till you can reach a dentist is to slather your toothpaste all over the area which is aching. It will numb the pain.
