In some cases I can't even work out gender. I'd have no chance with skin colour.
-
Everyone can see you're obviously black. Your perfect and eloquent English is an absolute tell-tale sign for that kind of ethnic background.

I don't have a clue, Freddy..I didn't picture you as black, white or in-between..my mental picture of you is of someone who likes to shake things up..who cloaks very serious subjects in off-center words..you sometimes test us and you are never boring..that's who you are to me...skin color doesn't come into it at all..let's see, with regard to the "does he eat pork" inane question someone asked about Obama...did you ever mention that you like watermelon? There's a nifty stereotype for you. From such little acorn comments do big trees grow..again, the truth or reality doesn't seem to matter at all with some people! :) Happy Friday, m'dear! :)

I could be that your avatar appears to be of dark skinned persons, though can be blamed more on bad lighting, and this from your "about me" section may have been a clue that lead to a wrong conclusion. "Very much into human rights and equal opportunities for minorities." Personally, on here, race means the same to me as gender, religion, or sexual orientation -- it matters nothing to me, unless someone else brings it up first.

Nothing in one's typed words indicates ethnicity. That is just plain silliness. The only way anyone is going to know someone's ethnicity over the internet is if the person tells them. For the most part the same can be applied to gender.

Someone thought YOU were black?

You might be able to tell a person's approximate age or their educational level by the way they write, but COLOUR? No. I have often been mistaken for a male by ABers. I think that males often make assumptions that assertive and intelligent must mean male. (AB proves that wrong- lots of smart ladies on here!)

Thats so weird to me. I never picture anyone as any race here. Just people! I dont know why you would think either way, I mean what difference does it make anyways? I cant hardly tell if they are male or female half the time. Maybe I should do a question about all that stuff! You all come answer it please...

There is no written word online that can definitely indicate ethnicity. Even if one writes that they are black, white, or green, that doesn't make it so. When I first came online years ago, my brother sent me a cartoon where two dogs were sitting at a computer. One dog said to the other, "On the Internet, nobody knows you're a dog." So, no, you can't tell lots of things about a person (?) by the pixels.
