Well to offer more information on the source they got their answer from? I've done it, and with other places other then Wikipedia as well. I mean I don't really feel like copying the entire article and then pasting it because as you say, if they go there first I don't need to do that, although I don't think everyone automatically goes over there before asking something here. But if I looked up the information to something I really didn't know about, I'll let the asker know where it was from so they can go and find out more on their own, and also so that people won't think I made myself trying to look knowledgeable on something I just read. XD

1) People DON'T go to Wikipedia, or any other website... They don't even use Google, most of the time to find the information for which they are aksing. It's much more fun and you get points to ask them here or elsewhere. 2) If I'm going to quote a website, I put the source. I don't always give all the information in the quote (and don't always even give the quote), but the link will provide a quick way for anyone to get to it. NOTE: There are also "plagerism police" on AB... And if you quote anything, they will usually figure it out and DR you for NOT providing a source. 3) AB questions are open forever - they NEVER close to answers - and there are rules of sorts against duplicates. If someone later comes along through Google or elsewhere, with the same question, then THEY can go see the actual page, which may or may not have been updated since the original answer. Hope that helps explain it a little! ;-)

I assume that the person asking a serious question is looking for a serious answer. Most answers can be found somewhere on line, so there is some enjoyment in asking on AB. There is also a kind of mental game in answering, but you want to be correct. Therefore sometimes send the person to the source.

Haha no, many ABers do not seek their answers elsewhere first. :p

AB is the only question/Answer site that i use. nothing else.

If I put a source in my answer, it doesn't necessarily mean that I didn't know the answer. Many times, I try to include a source in my answers to reassure the asker that it is not just a personal opinion, but verifiable information.
