  • Nope. Doesn't work at all. Dogs really don't care. Makes a good, persistant urban myth, though. Unfortunately, there is no tried-and-true method of keeping all dogs off a lawn except for a fence. There are a number of odor-aversion products out there that are supposed to keep dogs away from lawns because they smell bad, but for some dogs that just encourages them to pee on the bad odor to overmark it. Some people also try motion-activated sprinklers (targets any animal which comes into the area) with some success, and other people just have a talk with their neighbors about leash laws, and the applicability thereof. But really, the only sure way is a fence.
  • Where did you hear this? water-filled jugs will only entice a dog to pee on them. the jugs will also be an obstacle course to dodge, just find their favorite spot for a poopy-session.
