  • Lock it out of the room that the tree is in! If you cannot keep it out of the room the tree is in then keep it out of the house! Cats are very adaptable, they can quite easily cope outside of the house for the 9 hours that you are not in the house.
  • Get some of that citrus cat repellant spray and spray the entire trunk of the tree every morning. Also, tie some small ropes to the midpoint of the tree to the wall. In case the cat still does climb, the tree will stay standing.
  • I recently discovered that my cats hate double-sided tape. I put it anywhere they're not supposed to be and they can't stand to walk on it. Maybe a few strips around the tree will dissuade them from playing. Once they're conditioned, you can remove the tape.
