In his younger years, like before he went to Hogwarts, I felt badly for him simply because he was a victim of circumstance. But after a while, that was something he could control. He wasn't obligated to be a Death Eater, no one forced him to keep his greasy and detestable appearance, and no one threatened him into being a buttwipe. I suppose it is sad that the love of his life went and married the man he most hated AND had a child with him, but I have a feeling that if Severus had been more kindhearted and levelheaded, he might've actually had a chance. He pretty much wrecked himself. It's sad, but it doesn't deserve pity, in my opinion.

I didn't. So he was whipped on Harry's mom, get over it! He did a lot for Harry, but he was still a prick through the whole series.
