Do you think spirits could represent themselves as Gods? There is a whole hierarchy of spirits in this realm. They dont get much attention because they have no physical bodies. They do exist, many people know.

Its true. People refuse to talk about spirits. It must be a taboo.

If spirits exist, were cognizant, intelligent, and able to communicate with humans in some form, they could represent themselves as anything they wanted. I see no reason why a spirit could not be untruthful. In fact, mythology is full of stories of untruthful spirits and deities.

Of course they could...and in some cases try. They can only rule the weak though...no big deal if your own resolve is strong enough.

There is no evidence. It is magical thinking. You would think we would evolve away from that. I think the scientific complexity of the world drives many people away from truely understanding something and to embrace magical thinking.
