Any chance of getting back together and being a dad for the kid?

Most states will require the father of a child to support that child. So, if the child can be shown to be yours, you may well be required to provide child support payments until the child reaches his/her 18th birthday. Whether the child is yours may be proven through DNA testing. Looks like your options are the already-suggested reconciliation or simply accepting your legal obligation. Incidentally, I personally have found that participating in the raising of a child is fun and exciting and rewarding. But maybe I'm peculiar.

get a lawyer & demand a paternity test be done unless you know its yours. If you find out its yours then be as much of a man you were when u had sex & welcome your new bundle of joy in your life & enjoy being a daddy. But make sure you have a test, to many men get accused of being a daddy but only 1/4 of them find out the babies belong to them you don't wanna pay for somethings thats not yours

You seem to be acknowledging that the child is yours, so what you should do is start paying support. If you know the child is yours, you should not have to be sued to man up. If the child is not yours, then do nothing until you are served. Once you are served and go to court, request a paternity test. Since you are not on the birth certificate, a judge cannot order support until paternity is proven.

I just found out that you have a right to refuse a paternity test if your name is not on the birth certificate. i had a friend who went to court for child support and the dad was not on the birth certificate he refused to take the test for that reason and the court gae him an otion to pay or not he chose not to and does not have to pay child support. This was in New Mexico.
