When staying at a hotel how much money should you tip the maid?

Nothing. We do not tip in New Zealand. We have very good wages and those are built into the hotel rooms cost

- We dont tip anywhere in NZ. Its great. You get a bill, and thats how much you pay. I would leave something if i get exceptional service... but thats it.

I tip $2 for a nice clean room. If we ate in the room and made a mess of a very nice room, Ill tip $3.

I do not tip the maid. I might tip a room service guy, but only if we get exceptional service.

- Thank You for your reply, I usally leave a dollar or 2 just because they are usally the lowest paid in the hotel but do most of the work to a room or customer, aswell a profile would show most are mothers trying to earn a living. Thanks again for your reply

in one of my occasions I stayed for a week in a hotel on vacation. after i got out of the hotel i left a good amount of money for the maid. giving it to her by hand. if you leave the money in the room leave it with a note showing your graditude. it is confusing for the maid to find money in a room without an explanation for it being there.
