  • Does the engine slow down a bit after you put it in drive (it puts a load on the engine so it should slow it down or jerk the car slightly). Does reverse work? Try the low gears too (3/2/1/L) and see if those work. If it's just drive then it could be a problem with the gear, but if no gears work then it's most likely a transmission problem. Is this a column shift or a floor shift? (Is the shifter on the steering wheel column or is it to your right and moves forwards and backwards?) If it's a column shift it could be a problem with the connection between the shifter and the transmission.
  • I have not tried reverse or the lower gears. I will try them the next time it happend and post an answer. The shifter is on the floor. Thanks!
  • the most likely reason your car isnt moving, is that the gear is worn down and isnt engaging, another reason is that if it is that your transmission fluid is low or empty. the fluid pretty much makes the wheels move.
  • It could be a timing belt on the transmission, take it toa transmission service place, most of them should be able to correct the problem, especially on a new car like that.
  • mine is doing the same thing. i called ford dealership here and they said you cant check the transmission fluid there is no dipstick for it it is on the message center as tran fluid low. what do you guys think it would cost to get it fixed?
  • Mine went out going 65 mph with no warning. No reverse or forward gears. Luckily I have a friend who's a tranny mechanic. Turns out the torque converter cracked, shaved off the splines on the shaft it recieves from the pump. Very expensive but he rebuilt the converter and cost me 600 total
