  • When we cremated a relative my family actually ahd taken the urn and displayed it in rememberance. I think that it is the option of the family what is to be done with it. I dont want to sound strange by saying my family kept it but they did and it was just so there was rememberance of the individual which was put to rest.
  • A close friend of mine passed away and was cremated. His sister obtained permission to have his ashes buried in the same grave as their father. They basically used a fence post auger, and bored a hole into the top of the grave to a depth of about 4 feet, and his ashes were placed there.
  • Ususally they get buried in cemetaries, like my grandad was, or taken home to be spread elsewhere. Why, got some ashes at your disposal?
  • Not a strange question at all. usually the urn goes to a loved one or in a mosoleum....(sorry if the spelling is off),sometimes the remains are shared among family, or scattered. I hope this helps you.
  • Besides burial in a regular cemetery plot, another place that ashes can be interred is in a columbarium. Its a sort of wall (freestanding or built into a building) that has niches for urns to be sealed into, with memorial plaques on the outside. Many churches, mausoleums and cemeteries have columbariums.
  • Urns are usually buried in a cemetery. However, most states consider the cremation to be the final disposition of the body and place no restrictions on where the urn can be buried. Of course, one must be sensible and considerate of the rights and feelings of others by making sure the owner of the property where the urn is to be buried approves.
  • some are buried in plots. some aren't buried at all. some, the ashes are thrown somewhere. its whatever that person wanted after dying.
  • They don't usally get buried. The purpose of the urn is to be the final resting place itself. And the urn can be what ever you want so long as it's air tight.
  • I respected my husbands wishes and had him cremated and spread part of his ashes where he wanted then bought a plot and had him buried.
