  • different governers, different congresses, who knows. our country's policies dictate that traffic laws do fall under the state's jurisdiction, and thus the Federal government cannot give a "guideline" for traffic laws, and every state does what is right.
  • Traffic Laws Differ From State To state because states are different. Since certain laws have been in a state longer than in other states, they stay the way. Goveners and politicians and people who work for the Department Of Transportation decide the rules. A DT rep for Idaho can't just go makin traffic laws in New York, it just doesnt work that way. Also some states (New York, California, Texas) are bound to have more traffic then less populated states (Montanna, Alaska, Hawaii)
  • State legislators govern, enact and pass traffic laws, suitable for each jurisdiction. what may be appropriate for one state or jurisdiction, may not apply at all in other states. In Tennessee, the no u-turn law has been modified, because of the lack of accidents incurred, because of this law. now, you can make a u-turn, if done so safely, as long as there is not a sign forbidding the u-turn. This modified law may not work where you live, if u-turn accidents are in the majority.
