  • I think they help the "phobics" out there by making it more common, it's something that you see on TV more often and I think it's a great thing; it helps those who think that gay men are just all about being gay see that they are just people, just like anyone else and they deserve success, happiness, love, and respect too. I love Will and Grace!
  • This shows that responsible people especially those trying 2 portray the matter that, homosexuality should be accepted by now n not be controversial n condescended like old days. It's a reality n it's not going away. These people who try 2 "introduce" this type of show in our local cable i may say, should be given credit to do such job n by doing so, people get accustomed n realised that gay people are people too like others.(p/s: i dream of equality among us)
  • I just discovered Will & Grace (hadn't had t.v. in years)! It's one of the best written sitcoms I've ever seen and some of the most likable, quirky, flawed, lovable characters! One would think it would enlighten society and individuals .. but from the other answers, guess not!
  • I doubt a significant number of heteros give them a chance to make a difference.
  • I don't believe they have any effect/affect
  • Well, on the good side, the more people see LGBT as part of everyday life, the less that LGBT people will seem "strange" or "abnormal." So being characters on a network show helps in this regard. On the bad side, this show in particular played to certain stereotypes, and seemed to assume that 99% of gay men looked and acted like "Will" and "Jack." Remember the episodes where they made over Barry? I guess in their universe, "bears" don't exist, or are just targets for makeovers. Remember the angry lesbian mother of Elliott? Very stereotypical. Any one show would be hard-pressed to encapsulate the diversity of the LGBT community, but I think "Will and Grace" should have tried a little harder.
  • I loved Jack's character..however the person who has done the most (in my opinion) is Ellen de Generes(sp?)..she is so likeable, sweet and funny (never at anyone's expense) that she has legitimized an alternate lifestyle and given us insight into her private life by simply being open and honest about herself..she is very accessible and natural..she announced that she was getting married on her show a few days ago (you've heard about California having reversed the ban on marriage for gays) and everyone was so happy for her:)
