Why is it so impossible to log onto the internet to "quickly check my email" without spending the next two hours doing useless stuff online?

One of the answers would be "answerbag and sites like it". There are just too many damned useful, interesting, funny, thought provoking bits of information out there and much of it starts in your email; a quick link to a funny picture leads to dozens of others, a snippet of a news article leads to a trove of interesting information, that project update leads to slew of documentation and content to review, etc....

I have the same problem I go on to check my email and two hours later I am still on browsing. Another thing I do is go online too look for something I end up doing something completely different and forgetting to do what I originally went online for!

On this page- started with a negative question and then continued with bragging about answerbag experiences. Sounds right.
