Are you worried because your pet has been chewing on it? Well, I'm sorry but it really depends on the extent of the damage. When you strip a CAT5 cable I think there are 8 smaller wires that run through it. Depending on the rig, and set-up of your cable, as few as 1 could be damaged and you could never use it again, or up to 4 could be damaged, and blah blah blah. Of course, you could be lining the CAT5 and connecting it via "patch cables" which is just more CAT5. Your limit for total length before signal loss is 100 feet (roughly) It shouldn't matter how many patch cables you have so long as you are roughly 100 feet
