  • For one line of my maternal ancestry I can trace back 17 generations. My tree incorporates a lot of delving done by other genealogists though, so I cannot claim it as all my own work. But there's no point wasting time duplicating the work of others - not unless you suspect a mistake has been made. I can trace back along another of my maternal lines, to an ancestor 13 generations distant, through four separate lines of descent (or ascent). Which may partly explain some of my eccentric answers in this forum. So be kind to me - here but for the grace of God goes you.
  • My familf goes all the way back to a battle between the Scotts, Welch, British, Normans & the Vikings - namely William the conqueror at the battle of Hastings in A.D. 1066. From there my surname spreds all over the world through imagration. It's 15th in the common surnames in the States, 12th in the common names of the U.K, Ireland, Isle of Man and Wales.   • currently my grandfather has traced my fathers side back 9 generations to John Ross 1695... Father of Rueben Ross and great great gre... grandfather of mine... one day i might try to continue where he left off
  • About 3.Ours is more like a family shrub.
  • 65 generations ... to an unknown birthdate in between 820 A.D. and 830 A.D.
