Why do girls wear makeup? dont you think it makes them look fake?

If done correctly it enhances our features not just cover up some bad things. I don't care either way because as long as it gives the girl some more self esteem then all the power to her. Now clown make up is a little too far.

Makes them feel good. Doesn't look fake if it's applied correctly.

My husband does not like me to wear makeup. I look better natural. I've got such sensitive skin that it aggravates my skin too.

I rarely wear make-up and have never in my life put foundation on my face .. but there are some girls who look much, much better with it than without. I agree with the other answers though, when done correctly it only enhances certain features. However, there are a few women out there who think they need to walk around with 10 lbs of crap on their faces .. and that definately looks fake, in my opinion.

If make up is tastfully applied, I think it brings out the beauty of, say, a womans eyes. Less is more in most cases.

some of them do it to give off the "i wanna slice my wrist for attention" vibe, others, to have the 'my face is faulty, but you wont see that til morning' look, and still others, to present the 'im not really as cheap as my face makes me appear' look (i call this the peggy bundy) Mainly, it is to give off attitude, or highlight an attribute of the face. i dont know, but maybe blue eye shadow above the nipple might work just as well sometimes.

I see what you mean. I use makeup, but definitely not with a heavy hand. I see a lot of teenage girls a few years younger than me (I'm 20) who have gotten into the tanning craze and combined it with applying makeup that's highly pigmented and shiny on their face and they think it makes them look glamourous when it actuality, it looks unnatural and tacky.

women wear make up because it can enhance their beauty as long as its subtle and not caked on like a mask or badly done believe me ive seen a couple of women look like coco the clown and heard women in the morning say ive got to put my face on,all in all its a good thing and makes them look and feel more girly.

i like make up cause i enjoy pampering myself and doing my hair and everything, ya know. i do think some girls take it to a level where they do look fake and they dont even look lke the same person without make up. i look natural when i use make up i just play up my eyes. i love eyeliner and mascara :)

Im 13, and i dont wear makeup, probably because my mum never does. I wouldnt want to start incase i turned into one of those people who are like " i would never go out without makeup on!" tbh i find that pethetic. I think they wear makeup because everybody else does.

Make up...when worn correctly, enhances beauty...it doesn't make the face.

It only makes them look fake if they try to cover there natural beauty "meaning" glob it on rather then lightly apply.

Some girls do it right. (girls in magazine). But the girls in real life goes OVERBOARD with foundation, and powder. Plus eyeliners and blush.. It's just disgusting. Especially the super bright colors. Like Red lipsticks. Red lipsticks don't look right on all girls..
