For a long time I thought that I was a "meditator" having "experiences" only to discover that the "I" that thought it was meditating didn't exist except as an idea held in the mind. That was my most profound experience. Well, it wasn't really an experience but a realization - there is a difference. All of those flashy experiences and states of bliss that people (including me) get caught up in are just so much smoke that blocks the seeing of reality.
I am filled with Peace. I am taken away from problems and rest in place without worry!
Real meditation is not about experiences but about what is experiencing.
"A friend whose meditation teacher had made quite a fuss over him in India because of several extraordinary experiences, returned to this country. Soon after he was back he went to visit a well-known Korean Zen master. The Zen master asked him how his practice was going. With some pride, he told of his many remarkable visions and insights, and of the depth of certain moments in his meditation. The Korean master looked about the room, paused, and asked, "And where are those experiences now?"
- Stephen Levine, A Gradual Awakening
no longer needing anti-anxiety medication, my blood pressure going down to normal, being much more healthy both emotionally/mentally and physically
self awareness, out of body, vast spiritual xperiences, and a greater awareness of the way the universe moves around me, which sounds weierd but can help you position yourself for acheiving success and much more.
Just this! Washing up, feeding the cats, working, talking, eating, sleeping. Wonderful experiences. There are none better. And if you don't get this, because you haven't done any genuine meditation yet, consider what famous teachers ancient and modern have said about the same point, "Carrying water and chopping wood are the activities of the Buddha," - Huang Chu. "The everyday mind is Buddha." - Nansen "Isn’t it wonderful, isn’t it marvelous? My wondrous activity is chopping wood and carrying water.” - Layman Pang. “Chopping wood is meditation. Carrying water is meditation.” - Thich Nhat Hanh
Peace within! Harmony with my surroundings. Better physical and mental health. Happiness
I wouldn't even know where to begin explaining it to you so that you would both believe me and understand.
I practiced Hatha Yoga in the past, I got into it because I was a singer and it felt like the natural thing to do for breathing... I found out fast that it does far more that just that, for someone like me.
There are many forms or styles of meditation, they all require the activation of the "relaxation response". Yes it does work and it is beneficial.
It's helped even my moods out and made me less dangerous.
When I consistently meditate I naturally get things done and am more relaxed. Every time I go into a meditation I have trouble convincing myself that it will help, but every time I meditate I am amazed from the results. Meditation is very beneficial when used right.
Peace of mind and further awakening.
Well just to be a little bit contrary - in a good spirit, really.
There is no one experience that is one iota more important than another. All experience points only to consciousness and nowhere else. It is a bloody miracle that there is experience at all - if you want to look at it that way. Consciousness can dream up this entire thing so why is just another experience such a big deal. Meditator's come up with preposterous stuff all the time and openly admit that consciousness is capable of anything at all. It is a chemical soup. Big deal! What is learned from that?
Have the experience and move on with the knowledge that, in meditation, shit happens, but it is all in consciousness. Just don't identify with it. It is not what you are. You don't know what you are and not knowing is total release. This is my experience in meditation.
OK, sorry I was maybe a lot contrary.....
Very best wishes anyway. ;-)
From neanderthal to enlightenment
a slogan for meditation?
Close enough...
Before meditation i saw the world as fixed forms, solid matter,
and no lifeforce awareness.
Meditation will take you to the center of your universe, the center of existence.
Very lucky i am to have spent some time with a few Spiritual Masters in India.
Learned how to go straight to the source of life.
So for me Meditation is similar to breathing.
Meditation is the key to seeing what has always been, and will always be...
Meditation brings one into a state of higher awareness
so that we transcend the forms and separations of this physical world.
it brings us into the levels of Energy and levels of light.
So for me meditation is more than just a tool for relaxing, but it is a direct connection to the lifeforce within.
my only experience thus far has been mild frustration at failing, and amusement at falling asleep. it's really difficult for me, but i'm getting a little better every time i try.
What's important is the discovery of what you actually are, not having "experiences". Meditation is good to the degree that it helps in that discovery, otherwise it is just another obstacle to realizing your true nature. You can have loads of interesting, exciting, and wondrous experiences, but anything that comes and goes isn't worth having if you don't know what you are.

Hmmmm..let me think about that...
Meditation
My body so heavy, sinks in the chair
while my spirit so light, flies through the air.
Old loved ones of mine appear at my side,
while angels and guides say come for a ride.
So many places to visit both near and far
from my old homeland to a great pulsar.
I travel the distance in the blink of an eye
while time awaits and stands idly by.
Although I would like to stay and fly
I know that life soon will be passing me by.
And from far far way
I hear a voice say.
It’s time to come back and open your eyes
that you don’t want to is no surprise.
But the time has come
for your greatly needed here.
You can come back next week
so never fear.
Sorry I couldn't resist posting some poetry. I am not sure if you are asking what it is like or how it has helped me.
Mediatation is a very personal experience. But for me it is like my mind seperates from my body. Sometimes I see/hear things in my imagination sometimes I just get really relaxed.
My thoughts broke their bonds, my mind transcended all limitations, consciousness expands in every direction, dormant forces, faculties and talents come alive.
Meditating while refreshing my mind while I get some quiet and peace around me.
Practicing meditation has taught me to turn off the thoughts in my mind so I can start fresh at any moment, helping me to be at my best any time throughout the day. It has shown me how to direct my thoughts so I can focus them into achieving a desired goal.
I had an OOB experience. I was suddenly standing behind myself, seeing myself from behind. Since the silly in me exists, I have to say, I thought my hair looked pretty good from the back. I always wondered how other people saw me. After that, I knew! +5
