  • What a great idea the postal service here in the UK dont do things like that,i would donate food if they did that here.
  • I'm a postman in England and think that's a great idea. I would definitely put in. As long as the postman doesn't have to collect it all though , I've only got a small bike !!
  • I'm sorry, I don't. It's not because I'm stingy, "cheap" or frugal. It's because the post office in this "neck of the woods" (southeastern Pennsylvania) doesn't do anything close to what you described. In my former residence (I was there almost 2 years - for 2 Christmases) the post office asked for one canned good from each resident. I donated it. It never happened again. Ditto with the Boy Scouts of America. They put a plastic bag on the apartment door. I filled it with about 8 cans of assorted food. Nothing after that. Who knows? MAYBE this year will be different in my new residence?! Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it! VTY, Ron Berue Yes, that is my real last name! Sources: Because you asked.
  • we donate food 3 times a year:] and books and clothes and anything else we think is reusable.I love charity...
  • We donate to the local food pantry when we can. Other than that, it goes to a needy family member or two.
  • We always donate when the post office does that. Otherwise it depends. When my son was in scouts, we also donated food. A few months ago, some teenage girls were collecting food so I donated some to that. Last summer, some people stole the copper pipes from the local food bank. The food bank supports several counties and provides breakfast to children in the morning. We made a cash donation and donated small milk containers for the breakfast program.
  • They need to advertise better because I live in a rural area and don't hear about this until it is over or I go to town and see the bags hanging. I would love to donate and this would be very convenient for me since I own a daycare, but I just don't know when, do they have a schedule somewhere you know of? I have never received a bag from the postal service, do you know how I can be aware of this when it's time to do so?;~}
  • I don'te that two times a year through the USPS, and maybe monthly or so through the church's permanent food drive.
  • All the time through my kids' scouting activities. It's a good way to teach the kids how and why charitable activities are important to support.
  • We always donate food to charities and churches who are working with needy families. We had a lovely lady come to our door a couple of weeks ago collecting for their winter food drive. My hubby was delighted to help and proudly told her that we stock up on our favourite items when they are on special. So the astonished lady received two bags of high quality food. It costs so little and does so much. Donating food is the least any decent human being can do.
  • Where I live the us post office does this once a year and we have to supply our own box-no bags- / I think its done in May. I try to give them something. I dont feel its a popular event here amoung other people who arent givers. Im not a Church goer but dont most religions preach to give is to make you better? I will add to this: But you may have to twist there arm to get them to give? Maybe true but not Gods word.
