What would be the reason I don't like the humor of the Three Stooges or Abbot and Costello, but I do like the Marx Brothers and Laurel and Hardy?

You prefer clevel humour to slap stick.

The Three Stooges use stupidity was the driving force for their set ups. Someone does somthing stupid and the others react. they also use a lot of slap slick or violence ( one reason they are not popular with women)

Abbott and Costello is not as blantant, but Costello's innocence is beyond normal. There is a small degree of violence, mostly removing a hat and whacking the guy with it.

Laurel and Hardy use situational events not always because of their stupidity, but because they agree to do something without getting all the details. Like deliver a piano up 50 flights of stairs. they get flustered and upset but never hit each other.

Marx bros cleverly use imbiguity as the tool for humor. If a word can have a second meaning the brothers will always use that meaning to make sure whatever is asked of them is done to the letter, but not to the intent. their stories are silly but always have a happy ending, of sorts.
