Do you have walkie-talkies or cordless phones? If so, the signals they're broadcasting into the air may be interpreted as the remote, there for turning your TV on & off. Give it a test run to see if that is the issue.

Could be caused by someone near by with a powerfull universal remote. Or maybe a neighbor that has the same model TV as you?

    Maybe it's ghosts. =P

How old is your tv?, If it's between 2-3 years and its a DLP/LCD it is most likely the ballast, this part regulates the voltage that the lamp receives, so it could be having some fluxes and making your tv turn off and on.

    hi,

there must be something that triggers the protection mode

of your TV, might be an over-current or having

    over-voltage.

it cannot fully turn on till the fault is located

    and corrected.

IT MAY HAVE A DRY SOLDER IN SMPS SECTION OR HORIZONTAL OUTPUT. NEEDS VOLTAGE CHECKING ACCORDINGLY.

Other remotes could be doing it. It could be overheating and shutting itself down. Or maybe your house is Haunted. The possibilities are endless. Call a Professional.

Probably ghosts...if I have my TV on for a long period of time it'll go off by itself. A few times my PRINTER even came on by itself. It doesn't have a remote or anything. It still does it. Creepy.

The same thing happens to my TV every once in a blue moon. I blame it on the neighbors.

My TV turns itself on (bored I guess) and when it does this you can not turn it off, change the channel or volume, the only thing to do is wait until it shuts itself off or unplug. I was told it is an electrical issue, this TV is about 10 years old and outside of having a mind of its own once and a while it works great. It sure is creepy though to come down stairs to the TV on when I know it was off when I went upstairs. Any one know of a solution? Thanks

grumpy old neighbor??? if you have seen the movie grumpy old men then this might be the case... or you are sitting on the remote... it could also be the tv or bad power... if you have a ups available then hook that up to it and see if it stops

Mine Does That , I'm Almost Positive After Reading This That It's The ' Sleep Button ' .
Because That Button On My Remote Is Broken & It Has Been Turning On Automatically.
I Never Even Thought That That's What It Could Be Until Now.
To Bad , I Was So Sure It Was Ghosts =[

It Could Be The Neighbors Universal Remote , Or They Have The Same T.V. & Remote.
There Could Be A Bunch Of Reasons.

I Still Hold On To The Though That I'm Being Haunted Though , I Hope.
