Yes you can with a proper nutritional diet and A LOT of hard work.

that averages 4 pounds a week which is double the advised amount but it can be done. Make very sure you eat and drink properly and take care of your skin

Losing that amount in a short time could leave your skin baggy.

    I doubt it.

The best rate of weight loss is about 2 pounds per week (
    http://www.consumer.gov/weightloss/setgoals.htm).

There are various reasons for this, but in my view the most important ones are these: when you burn fat, you build muscle, and muscle is heavier than fat.

When you burn fat, toxins are released to your blood, and these will probably stress out your liver, and thus weaken your immune system, causing side effects such as burning urine, pimples, illness, food sensitivities (to name a few).

Working that hard, to lose weight twice as fast as is recommended could also lead to physical stress related injuries which will slow you down, if not stop you dead in your tracks.

Finally, you are much more likely to fail at your goal of losing weight if you set your goals too high -- that will be totally depressing.

It depends on how overweight you are and if you were sedentary. If you are quite a bit overweight, it comes off pretty fast at first especially if you also haven't been moving around much before and start burning more calories by exercising.

Yes. Last year, I lost 40 pounds in 2 months using Medifast products. I didn't exercise for the first 3 weeks and walked as exercise after that.

Yes you can but you will have to do a lot of running and eating protein, fiber, fruits and veggies. What Persky Bunkenmeiser said is what they all say but as you run/work out and eat the right food you are burning more calories when you're not doin anything. I lost about 30 pounds doing that and it took me 2 months and a half almost. You can lose 35 pounds in 35 weeks that is not necessarily the only way you can lose weight. My mom and I have kept it off for 5 years about and still eating healthy. Once in a while i do add weight but it's my fault because i don't watch what I eat sometimes. But run and eat fiber, a little bit of carbs veggies and fruits. But if you want to lose weight quick then cut carbs and you'll see how fast that would be, carbs cutting is a quick way.

You generally need to burn about 3500 calories more that the calories you intake over a period of time.

    Example calculation:
So if you weigh 200 pounds and want to lose 35 pounds, you might find that you will maintain the 200 pounds with about 2500 calories per day with low activity level.

Without increasing your activity level (burning 2500 per day) you can lower your intake to approx 2000 per day and you will burn 500 calories per day in fat. This adds up to 3500 calories per week - so with this plan you burn one pound a week. You would lose 35 pounds in 35 weeks.

If you also exercised enough to burn 500 more calories per day (and dieted at 2000 per day) you could lose 2 pound per week.

This is based loosely on data for a 200 lb. person (height sex and other factors weigh in as well).

You can find whole charts about how much calories are burned doing different activities depending on your weight etc.
