The toilets in people's homes flush by releasing the water in the tank, by gravity, into the bowl. Most commercial toilets don't have a tank and use a timed opening of the water valve to accomplish flushing. The water enters the bowl under much more pressure than a gravity fed bowl, producing a more powerful, and usually more complete, flush. Noise and higher water usage are the primary reasons we don't use these toilets in the home.
