• Possibly outdated, but my dad was a campus bishop about 10 years ago. The handbook at that time mentioned this to be the case even if the fetus was aborted, but I can't recall if adoption was covered.

• Oh, what I meant was you'd have to look into the circumstances in which the sexual act/s took place. Was it a moment of weakness, part of an ongoing relationship that went a bit further and faster than intended or what? I think it would be wise for the young man to wait a few more years before going on a mission because otherwise, he might get tempted again.

• Gotcha. And yes, you’re right, which goes back to laie_techie’s original answer that only his bishop or branch president could give a definitive answer. Though fornication is always going to be a pretty big no-no, each person and situation are different and will be treated accordingly.
