Do both parents have to agree to have their child baptised Catholic? The mother is Methodist and does not want the daughter to be baptised Catholic.

    Do people realize that some incantation and water have no affect on someone unless they are old enough to realize what the hell is going on? It has no affect regardless, but it really doesn't matter because nothing will change except the fact that the child will be wet......

    She should really talk to her pastor, who would tell her that the Methodist church fully respects Catholic baptism. In fact, though Catholics might refer to the child as "being baptised Catholic," the overwhelming majority of churches that practice infant baptism would just say that the child "received Christian baptism."

    i think all catholic child should be baptised with a parents both being there.
