    What do you know how to do? Right now, it's a hard time -- alot of contractors are laying people off so you need to have a skill or be willing to be a straight laborer. Be willing to do anything the builder needs from holding the plywood to picking up trash. If you work hard and show you are willing to do what it takes, eventually you can advance in the company but you have to be willing to start at the bottom.
