Why do people think that dating automatically means you are having (or are allowed to have) sex with that person?

Because people tend to compensate for their own inadequacies and live their fantasies through someone elses life. This is the same mentality that makes TV soaps so popular. Live your life for your own enjoyment, and tell everybody else to screw off and mind their own business. Edit: The term "your" is used in the general sense, and wasn't intended specifically for you TJ.

Law of averages I think. In most cases these days people who have been dating more than a few weeks ARE having sex. So people tend to assume that anyone who is dating must therefore be having sex, regardless of evidence to the contrary.

Those people are selfish and are only in it for themselves. It's called LUST, not love. Those people are people who should be avoided like the plague when it comes to dating.
