In elementary school we did mothers day crafts, I was forced to do them even though I would cry not to, do you think teachers were right in forcing me to do the craft? as it would make me think of my mthers abaondonment and make me upset

No I think if a child is really upset about doing a craft which in not a mandatory part of the curiculum the teacher shouldn't force it. If we were talking about something that was mandatory I think the teacher should give an alternate asignment of equal difficulty.
