Their youngests can be overprotected too. Mainly because of the mistakes that their older kids might of made, they don't want their younger kids to go through.

Sometimes we take our childhood (if it was bad) and want to make sure they don't suffer the same. It's an ugly world out there and we do our best to tell them what could happen by giving them many many guidelines.

Today's parents are paranoid because the 24/7 mass media keeps showing kidnappings and child rapes. Things really aren't any more dangerous today than they were 50 years ago; it just seems like it due to the media.

I am very protective of my 5 year old. I am a 18 year old single dad and shes my true joy and I love her more than anything. I dont hover over her and I will give her some space as she grows older but I wont ever let her run wild. I love her too good.

You do a lot to bring them into the world, to raise them right and keep them safe. It is their right to be protective, I loved my grandparents growing up but I also hated them because they always seemed to pry and meddle in my personal business. Now that I am a parent I see why they did the things they did, and I can look back and say they had every right to be that way and they did a good job raising me, when they did not have too.

I am a overprotecting parent. When you love someone too much, you want to protect that person from the all bad things, but sometimes we exagerate.Parents are overprotecting because they are afraid not to loose their children.

I suppose you have something or some one special in your life. Suppose something horroble has to happen with that something or some one special, you wouldnt want that would you. Now that something or some one special might not feel the same way you do, but that doesnt stop you from caring does it. Think about it.

It's usually because they remember the "terrible" things they did when they were your age which they don't want you to possibly do.

Are they really being OVER protective or are they just looking out for your best interest? If you are living your life wrapped in bubble wrap and still being fed stage one baby food so you don't choke then yes they are over protective. If they simply tell you not to wander around on city streets at 3am then they are just looking out for you.
