  • I would say that it is probably a fake. When coins get misstruck, it is usually because of some kind of feed problem in the coin press. Such problems are not likely to result in a coin getting a second strike 18 years after the first one. Additionally, in order to get heads on both sides without any tails pattern showing up, it would have had to be struck between two heads dies. Such a situation would have produced a bunch of double headed quarters. This is a situation that would not be very likely to go unnoticed and would have resulted in the destruction of all of the coins so misstruck. Finally, such a situation would not have produced a coin with two different dates. So, what I would guess you have there is a coin that was probably made by filing down two quarters and then glued together. Of course, I could be wrong about it.
  • i have a two headed quarter dated on one side 1973 & 1997 what is the worth.
  • I had a similar coin with 1977 and 1984 but with a closer look I did discover that it was in fact a fake. I also was convinced that it was real perhaps you should to take a closer look at the coin. Then again I may be wrong....
  • There are magic shops that sell such coins..the fact that it has two different dates on it sounds like a fake..but ask at a local coin shop. They will know what it is and if it is worth more than a quarter!
  • It is a trick coin.....I assure you.
