I have tried YA, but didn't really like it. I don't have any horror stories about that site.
I do have a few about AB though... although I'm not going to share them.
Improvements? Hmmm... AB could afford to lose a few dozen trolls and all of the "holier than thou" members while bringing back the decent members that the staff banned for no good reasons.

i switched sites because some people were just flat out mean. people would avoid answering my questions and say 'you look scary' or 'ugly' shit like that, it happened 3 seperate times by 3 seperate people. some people are just super rude

In a word yes, there are all kinds of security problems and members have been tracked down by trolls and harassed, threatened and stalked in "real life". I read on a news site that one woman had her house burned down.
People can use the same nickname as someone else and post disgusting posts under another members name with really gross sexual content and nothing is done about it.
The site is not monitored and offensive posts such as "all disabled people should be killed so we dont have to look at them" have been reported by as many as 10 members and yahoo does not remove the post.
What does this say about the yahoo staff? That they are the ones doing the trolling? I believe the worst trolls are in fact yahoo employees.
Questions can be deleted by reporting that there have been no answers to a question and it has been on the site for several days, yahoo doesnt check to see if there are answers. They just delete it. This is the latest troll trick.
Emails to violation answers escelations receive no response, many members have emailed saying a question had 20 or more answers, but Yahoo will not respond.
Sexual pedophiles can post obscene things to 13 year olds, even 10 year olds, age is not monitored, and Yahoo will not remove the posts.
Police forces around the world monitor yahoo and set up sting operations to catch pedophiles. The majority have come from Yahoo. The TV Show about this got all the pedophiles from Yahoo answers. 'Nuff said?
I dont know why advertisers would want to be associated with Yahoo, it doesnt present a good image of their standards IMO
Yahoo is just a cesspit wide open to every racist, predator, pedophile and sick person on the internet.
No one should EVER allow their kids on Yahoo !!

ugh! the worst, simply the worst. I got booted for standing with some poor kid who asked a question about his homosexuality, and he was getting broadsided left, and right by biblethumpers, and when I began countering their bigotedness, I got booted, and when I demanded to be reinstated(I didnt swear, insult, or anything of the sort) All I got was a load of BS. So I had my company remove their buisness from yahell, Im sure they crapped a brick when that cancellation went through. Guess what? Charter cable has done a much better job anyway.

well I do have a bone to pick with yahoo answers, I was almost at the top level and had to change internet servers from SBC to what I have now which is way better and cheaper and faster but in the process lost my ID on Yahoo even though they said everything would be moved over to new ID, YA right and when you try to talk to someone at Yahoo answer, there is No live person to speak too, only a stupid e-mail that sends a endless loop of dumb answers that mean nothing and when you call Yahoo they tell you OH, Yahoo answers is not part of our service we have NO number to call them, go figure that one out.
So I start over and get over half way to the top level again and the powers to be start kicking me off because they don't like my format of answers on spyware & virus software, they think I'm copy righting it or that it is worded wrong in their opinion and no amount of moderating with them helps.
so I just gave up and found this cool place that allows people to be then selfs and have fun, even if there are a few trolls running around, one bugged me for a while but seems to have went away for now.

Yeah. It's incredibly hard to find specific questions on that thing. If you type a word in the search, then a question with the same word would appear as the results, however you know not of what the true question is until you look through them all. It's truly bothersome. Answerbag is perfect the way it already is. Answerbag is a lot better when looking for the right questions and answers. Yahoo should get a new filtering system for all i care.

There are many arrogant people there. When I ask questions in "Home work help" they just say try yourself and not giving any answers.
For theFast the past few months "Y" has become very very slow that it takes more time to log in..
AB is a good site. But in the recent few months I feel it's becoming slow.. It takes time to load.

Heh, the only reason why I found this site was because Yahoo Answers sucks and wouldn't let me post a question. Though I may have hated signing up just to ask one question, I look at it and say it was definitely worth it here.

hello,have i got stories to tell you concerning yapoo,err yahoo.i was humiliated no end on yahoo,they were always picking on me,is answering a questionable question with these two words "no comment" worth of an e-mail violation? i respecrt their rules and reulations just as i respect ab,s policies,im not an idiot.but yahoo is a screwed up website that needs a complete overhaul,one hand doesnt know what the other is doing,its violation heaven on yascrew!you walk on eggshells there,ill never ever go back to yahoo,im staying here on ab.

Its got all the signs of a corrupt establishment.
Its suggestion forum is monitored by YA loyalists, who get all defensive about any suggestions speaking agianst less YA involvment.
They let trolls get certain types of people suspended, just cause they dont agree.
The only time an answer ever gets deleted is if it does not align with YA and majority opinion.
The people there are mostly ignorant jerks who cannot think for themselves, and think we dont need rights.

OK ... I ended up closing my account in Y!A though I was on level 5 (7 is the highest).
Reason #1 - the management is very biased and arrogant,
example: they will not let you post a message if you critisize the rival political party,
Reason #2 - they practice Nazi type policy,
Reason #3 - in the middle of trying to post my answer I get a pop-up message on the screen - "we are taking a breather" - and you never know was your message posted or not .. ...it's very annoying.
Reason #4 - there are a lot of glitches and though they say they will fix them they do
NOTHING at all.
Reason $5 - they deleted quite a few of my questions for nothing, not because they violated the rules (they did not!) but because someone did not like my question and reported it. A lot of people complained about their innocent questions being deleted.
AB is a great site. I would just design it a little different ... it seems too busy. Sometimes it's confusing to browse. But I feel much better here on your website and don't plan to close my account. LOLOL

I was one of their highest scorers and they banned me with no warning and for no reason that I could discern.. They told me that they had sent me warnings--for what I have no idea (and I never received any warnings)....and they refused to talk to me...I asked to speak to a supervisor 12 times and was ignored everytime....so here I am..and I will never endorse any Yahoo products to anyone. Yahoo answers is a site controlled by trolls and 12 year olds.

Yahoo sucks. Some asked for a link. I shared. Another user promoting some other site must have reported. They first banned my answer and later suspended. Lots of exchange of email but their CS were adamant I left them for good. They really suck.

I realize this question is a few years old, but hopefully someone will read my answer.
So far since being on this site for a few days I can say that this site is much better than Yahoo Answers. I was a user for 4.5 years on that site and for a while I enjoyed it. But after a while I began to dislike the users on the site. Over time the site became much worse than it was originally. Trolls began to take the site over, massive violations from reporter trolls, and sections I used to frequent no longer had intelligent feedback from users who asked or answered questions. The site began to lose its relevance and I had enough. So a few days ago I stopped answering and asking questions. I enjoyed it for a while, but I became sick of the worthless questions and answers.
Now in comparison at least so far, the questions and answers here seem more sensible. The users are friendlier, there are no apparent violations or trolls that I see, and overall the site just has a better atmopshere. The only criticism is the point system and the site set up. At least with Yahoo you were not dependent upon users liking your answer to earn points. So if no one likes your answer, you don't get points. Also, it seems harder to earn best answer from an asker. Other than those two criticism, I like it here thus far and I am starting to think this site is better than Yahoo.

I help friend use Yahoo Answers when he is sick, I take over. Some men flirt crudely at me, insult me horribly too. Chinese man hate Japanese, he not like one of my answers, send message threaten kill me. My lover is Kyojin the Giant, he find man and teach him lesson. Boy tell blonde American friend he kill hunters support animal rights, Kyojin find him. Blonde girl show us harrassing messages man not like her say dragons never exist. Group of men conspire defame and harrass some friends, Kyojin prosecute them. I think FBI should investigate website. It have favorites, never give them violations, give everyone else vioaltions any time trolls report them, is vioaltion of freedom of speech.

I do not have a yahoo answers account because i have heard that it is a difficult place to be. Answerbag compared to other sites? so far i have found quite a few glitches, hopefully they will get ironed out as time goes by.

Yes i was on yahoo answers but kept getting reported by trolls and about 5 accounts deleted plus most of the people on that site are only kids,I once got relationship advice from a 13 year old even though i'm 22 lol
I'm just new to this site so i'll see how i get on but at the moment i'm a bit confused.

Nope I've used it loads of times. It's among the top 3 Q and A sites in the world traffic wise.
This means there are lots of retards, spammers, trolls and chancers being attracted to the site. It's best to walk away from non constructive criticism. As the old saying goes, don't argue with idiots they'll take you down to their level then beat you with experiance.
