  • Many states and municipalities in those states have standard language/terms and conditions which must appear in all leases. Yet, each and every lease is different from all other leases. What do I mean? Some of the language/terms, conditions and rent for one lease can be and are very different from the language/terms, conditions and rent from other leases. What applies in "Lease A" is different from "Lease Z", "Lease R" from "Lease B1" etc. The lease you negotiated, read, understood, agreed to and signed is a legal, binding contract and document. If you weren't able to get most of the terms you wanted, you could have and should have looked for a residence where you could get the terms and conditions you thought you should have had. You knew (or should have known) what you were signing. If you had doubts or concerns, you could have and should have consulted an attorney. To put everything "into a nutshell" and to do my best to answer your Q: the answer is found in the lease you agreed to and signed. Review that contract and document. Thanks for asking your Q!
