My opinion is that the creation of the state of Israel could only come about by taking land from somebody else. The politicians, of all countries, who were responsible for making it possible were at least partly responsible for much of the violence emanating from the Middle East in the present day.

I don't dispute that they needed a country and I can't see how it could have been organised any better, but the Palestinians are going to continue believing that they were kicked off their own land and continue being treated badly by Israel and the western nations.

It's a good thing. The Jewish people needed a home after so many centuries of exile.

Isreal is probably one of the most badass countries ever....rivaling Germany, which is interesting. They also have the world's only bomb resistant flag, which is awesome.

It's fantastic. Israel produces technology that rivals and beats the USA and Japan. Most large engineering corporations like Intel rely on Israeli talent to produce complected devices like microprocessors. Core2Duo and Pentium M are two Israeli brainchilds. There's a ton of other Jewish innovations and I cannot remember it all.

I cannot remember the exact numbers, but Israeli Jews are one of the smallest minority populations on the planet yet they hold the largest share (20% or more) of Academic Nobel prizes, more than any other ethnicity or nationality on the planet.

It is a terrible mistake. There was no reason to create a Jewish state on land administered by the UK and populated by Palestinians (who had nothing to do with oppression of Jews).

If the allies wanted to give Jews a homeland after WWII they should have carved it out of the country which caused the suffering - give them Bavaria.

I think it's a shame they can't figure out how to rule their country without repressing the orignial population...

Looking through history, the existence of Israel today is a profound miracle.

Since they have always in exile and helped everyone else's economy it was time that they had a place to call a country of their own.
