Help answer this question below.
Ask your son what they are.
Good luck explaining to him why you were rifling through his stuff.
Take the bag to a pharmacist you can trust. If they are legal, he or she will be able to tell and identify for you.
You can be straight up and ask him, but chances are, if it is something he should -NOT- be using, he won't be as candid as you hope. Can try to take them away and watch for withdrawl symptoms then discuss it with someone that may be familiar, or bring them to your pharmacist... Good luck, and I hope it's just a bag of leftover rockets from Halloween, or him trying to mess with ya. (they are good at hiding what they don't want you to find)
Take a few and have them tested or take them to youre local rx or ya can get the book on pills but the surest way is to get them tested hope this helps :)
Take some and see what happens
Flush 'em down the loo when he's not looking. See what colour his face turns when he realizes they are missing. The severity with which he panics might be related to how illegal they are.
just go to drugs.com and click on pill identifier and enter information about the pill
You can go to http://www.drugs.com/pill_identification.html and type in the details and you might be able to compare both. Good luck and I hope this helped. MC
Try asking him first- if he says something like Tylenol, then I'd try taking them to a pharmacist and have the pills evaluated. Either way, when you're done, get rid of them and have a long and serious talk with your son, and continue to monitor his room to make sure he doesn't do it again.
For all we know, those pills could be very dangerous to his health and safety.
God Bless!

It seems to me the parents suspicion was warranted. I suppose it is better than ignoring the problem. I would confront him first and ask what those pills are, if you don't get a satisfactory answer take it to the pharmacist.

yep KIDS today think they rule the roost its the parents house the kids do not pay the bills and hell yah if you suspect something is up ya gotta go with it 9 out of 10 times youre gut instinct is right
by stunada on May 7th, 2008
Never said the suspicion wasn't warranted... but you know as well as I do that the first thing out of that kid's mouth was "What were you doing in my ROOM?!?!?!"

So what.
by stunada on May 7th, 2008
So, if you're going to get another word out of the kid as far as an explanation (and possibly a sincere apology) you can't just whip out the pills and go "What the hell is this?"
.
It has to start with a story, like... "I was looking for the cordless 'phone and found this under your bed. I wasn't sure if they were old pills or candy... thought I'd ask you."
by Lady Alathia of Vulcan on May 7th, 2008
Hahaa, that's an awesome tactic!

Just making a general statement, and if the kids ask what I am doing in his or her room..... my reply would be I am the dictator of this house any questions. We practice democracy in my house when I see fit to do so. Harsh I now but for the better, liberty and trust in my family(kids) is earned not given.
by deltabtry on May 7th, 2008
Coming from a "Because I'm your mother that's why!" family, I'll tell you straight up that using just those lines is what causes the kid to want to hide things from you in the first place.
.
I don't believe by ANY means that you should be your kid's buddy before their parent, but a volatile dictatorship a family is not. If you don't want him to hide things from you, you have to keep open communication, and let the CHILD be able to trust YOU with HIS secrets.

Not as bad as it sounds, my son has plenty of freedom and privacy along with trust but, if he violates my trust or rules he knows the consequences. I have raised him to be responsible and stand up ti his mistakes and so far it's working. Besides there is my wife the lenient one, which BTW I respect her wishes, most of the time.

Nope balls to the walls . Why dose everyone wanna group hug all the time why dose everyone want to be so passive about it . I remember when I was growing up my dad would have my ass and for the fact that I was military for 10 years and now I am a disabled vet. Back in the late 80's and the start of the 90's our mission was to catch Pablo Escabar first time I saw someone get shot and it was all over drugs .

Communication and absolute honesty in all my answer is SOP with me in regards to my son, and if has a secret he wants me to keep, then it shall be done.
