  • If your parents request that you kill someone they are not obeying the do not kill clause. It is there intent to murder and thus aside from you sinning, so are your parents. The greater sin is murder none the less, so obviously you shouldn't do it
  • The Ten Commandments does not say Obey your parents it says Honour they mother and father. Big difference.
  • G'day Anonymous, Thank you for your question. You do not kill. The Ten Commandments make it clear that you must honour God's will and that means that you do not kill as God's will has precedence over your parents commandments. What happens when it is claimed that God wants you to kill someone in his name is another issue. Regards
  • As Galooly wrote, the commandment is to honor our parents not to obey them. There is a big difference between the two. To honor them means to respect them and to be grateful for all that they gave us. It does not mean that we always have to do what they tell us, this is especially if what they tell us to do is unjust and/or immoral.
  • The Bible says to Honor your Father and Mother. It does not mean to do what they say even if it is wrong in God's eyes. Honor just means to show high respect for someone.
  • It is not obey but honour your parents. Think about it, even if you were right if your parents followed the ten commandments they would not be asking you of this. Here is hoping this is hypothetical.
