How can someone win 7-6, 7-6 in tennis? I thought it was best three of five.

    In addition to Jangobean's answer, men play best of 5 sets; women play best of 3 sets in professional tennis.

    Well, you could win in tiebreakers twice in a row. It could have been in a women's match, or a men's match that was not a grand slam event or a major. Men only play best three of five in majors and grand slam events. There is an odd thing with Wimbledon, however. If there is a 5th set, there is NO tiebreaker. If it's tied in games 6-6, they just keep playing until someone wins. This can take very long, as last year, there was a 6+ hour doubles match that was over a 2 day period.

    If a set reaches 6 - 6 then you play a tie breaker game which would take the score to 7/6
