Is there a way to test potential parents for the defective gene that causes harlequin ichthyosis?

    yes, you need to find a genetic testing center. nowadays they test for all sorts of diseases but of course you would tell them which ones you are looking for. also, they will test the baby at birth for some, and others upon request. but you would want to know before conception and that's where to go.
