If the masses percieve the facade of democracy as real and solid then it is real.

No our founding fathers thought " We the people for the people" That is not what is going on today.

It is more democratic than the founding fathers had in mind because they though of "the people" as all white, landowning men. However, their ideas were limited mostly to Alexander Hamilton's, James Madison's and Thomas Jefferson's ideas. Certainly they never envisioned a country of 300 million people.

Not really. They didn't forsee anyone voting except male whites. The people running would probably horrify them even though they, in theory, believed everyone should have the right to vote and hold office.

Not by a long shot. But most of all - I very much doubt they would want us to keep asking what they would want. Esp Jefferson.
