I shave my underarms everyday but it looks like I have not. I have dark brown hair. I am scared to wear a tank top because of this. My mother is very controlling and doesn't want me to try or do anything she doesn't do. So no waxing. What can I do? thanks

try not to be so self concious, hair is not abnormal... God put it there for a reason.. to reduce friction.... as long as you can't braid the hair under your arms it is hygenic and neat.

there's nothing wrong with hair there! It grows there for a reason. the people that tell you to take it off are the same ones who say circumcision is necessary. Unfortunately, you're probably pretty young, and it wouldn't be easy for you to be outside the norm and have hairy pits. Mayeb wear sleeves instead of tanks for a while until you figure it out better. It sucks that there's only a minority few that say screw it, stop the oppressive shaving directive. Find how you feel about it personally and go from there. If you're clean and proud, then they have no reason to question what you do...but of course, they always will...

I have dark hair and pale skin so I know exactly what you mean. Waxing is the only way to get a perfectly 'clean' look. It requires practice (or help) to get good at it. Maybe your mom is afraid you'll hurt yourself. You can cause bleeding or bruising if you do it wrong. Will Mom let you have it professionally done? The good news is that if you wax regularly (like all winter) less hair grows back. What does, grows back more slowly. If she's dead set against you waxing, those multi-bladed razors with the gel strips are pretty good in a pinch. Others have told me laser hair removal works well, but I've never tried it.
