I've talked about this a whole lot, actually. My father is a chef, and it is the nature of the business to be vicious. My dad was never nasty like that, but he also never had the fame. I tried to convince my family that Ramsey is honestly a lunatic, and he gives a bad reputation to the already poor stereotype of "angry cooks"..... *end rant* :)

Something about the quarter-of-a-mil salary comes to mind. Some people will tolerate almost anything for money. It also seems that he is much kinder to those already in his employ than to those vying to get there... and I'm sure some of it is acting for the TV cameras. It's the violence that sells the show.

In all honesty, I believe Chef Ramsay is "cruel to be kind". He doesn't mince words (pardon the pun) and he get's right to the point. In his kitchen it's either sink or swim. There is a heart of gold beneath that gruff exterior and saucy vocabularly.

The one who laughs ALL the way to the bank!:)

He was probably chosen from several chefs with bad tempers. Its school and learning to deal with angry professors and teachers. Its gives a person character to be able to deal with gruff bosses. Inside every gruff is a little kid with a soft heart. Maybe that Hell's Kitchen Chef is that little kid off camera and away from work.

Good question..I can't stand the jerk. His one saving grace..he discovered Paula Deen and was the force behind her getting her show..I love Paula Deen!

Have you seen the amount of Michellen Stars, the wealth and success. His mentor Marco Pierre White was worse.once left Ramsey crying in his Kitchen. If you cannot stand the heat..head for Wendys...
