no, when higher primates lose their young, they have been observed to starve themselves to death
-
And you never know about those raccoons and Possiums laying along the road. ;)

No Dogs will eat the sick pups that are not going to make it I know I saw mine do it

I beleive the dog I had when I was young committed suicide, he was ran over as a puppy and lost a leg, lived a good happy life, he was getting old and having trouble getting around aso he went and layed in the road. He always slept in my parents room but that night he slept in my room, when my dad got up to let him out he came over and licked my hand then went outside to the road. So I believe he planned it.

No it is not, some animals also do it either out of illness or loss of their young ones. It is not called suicide but self destruction, which in my understanding is the same. Here is a site with serious information. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2410895 Regards.

No, it is possible for at least some animals to commit suicide. I read an article on the subject and it cited multiple cases where a person died and their pet, generally it was a dog, became sullen and refused to eat anything, obviously resulting in starvation.

i've seen scorpions do it.. Discovery channel had a program on it...

I don't know if this counts: There was two doves in my yard for over a year. lol they were practically part of the family. Well, doves mate for life, which i think is beautiful. One day i walked outside to find the male dove dead on the ground (I assume cuz of a cat?)We moved its remains away. The reaction from the other dove tore at my family's heart - for days it sat on the brick wall directly above the spot where the other one had died. It would just sit there and call. It didn't seem to care about anything - I could walk right up to it, but my dad told me not to touch it. Then, one day, it was gone . . .cept there was a pile of feathers there. I truly believe it waited on that ledge to die, waited for some animal to get it.
