Help answer this question below.

I'm suppose to take 800mg to 1000mg of vitamin D daily. My Calcium supplement contains 200IU of vitamin D. How much is that? Am I taking enough?

    I think you mean 800 to 1000 IU/day (not mg).

    The US government officially says that 200IU/daily is needed for adults below age 50. However, that level was set years ago, and is out-dated.

    Many doctors now suggest 1,000IU, 2,000IU or more per day to maintain a blood level of 50 to 60 (optimal). Below 32 is considered deficient. It's a simple blood test to check levels from time to time.

    I had been taking 400IU in a multivitamin and had a vit-D blood level of only 10. Now I supplement with 3,000 of D-3 every day.
