you don't have to. Most are not dangerous. If they are building nests near the house, then, by all means, get them sprayed, but most spiders are useful for keeping down insect numbers, particularly mosquitos.
I have no problems with small spiders on webs. It\'s the brown ones that scuttle around the basement floor that really get me.

I don't like them much myself, but I appreciate the job they do in keeping down unwanted insects. I have a rule. If it is on an inside wall, it is usually harmless, so I "escort" it outside or leave it alone. If it is on the floor, it dies.
Outside, we have red-backs (I am in Australia). They are deadly and they die without question. But the orb weavers and other types I leave alone.
